South Eastern Europe Telecommunications Academy (SETA) - INA Academy is a non-profit, Non Governmental Organisation registered at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Registry (No. 180) since 2002.
INA Academy is inspired by the world dialogue on development and is particularly focused on United Nations Millennium Development Goal 8 / Target 18: “In cooperation with the private sector, make available to all the benefits of new technologies especially information and communications technologies”. Information Communication Technologies offer a promise for development to the South East European region. INA Academy works in smooth cooperation with the countries of South East Europe, as well as the international organisations active in the region, to promote the Information Society concept.
INA Academy acts as a network of officials from Regulatory Agencies, relevant Ministries, NGOs, Academic Institutions, Telecom Organisations and the industry of the SEE region. Representatives from these organisations convene periodically, to discuss and analyse the developments and to formulate a common and unified approach in developing Information Society in the region.
INA Academy operates as a node that facilitates the dissemination of information between ICT market stakeholders, the exchange of best practices and experiences on regulatory issues and ultimately the promotion of cooperation, integration and convergence of SE European countries with the European Union. In addition, it operates as a centre for the provision of high quality training on regulatory and technical issues concerning the telecommunications market and constitutes a recognized ITU Center of Excellence for ICT Training in CE and SEE region. It also offers technical, legal and financial advice for the assessment of the technological, legal, regulatory and business environment of the regional ICT market. INA Academy provides a link with similar initiatives from other actors (UNDP, EAR, USAID, German Technical Cooperation etc) to avoid duplication of efforts and waste of scarce resources.
